August 7 (Renewables Now) - EDP Renewables North America LLC has secured a second off-taker for the output of the Sonrisa Solar Park with storage in California, its parent company EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced Wednesday.

EDPR and the buyer, local electricity supplier San Jose Clean Energy (SJCE), have struck a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for 100 MW of solar and 10 MW of storage. The latest PPA increases the project’s capacity to 200 MW of solar power and 40 MW of storage.

In June 2019, the Madrid-based renewable energy company announced signing a 20-year PPA for the same solar park with another Californian power supplier, East Bay Community Energy (EBCE). EBCE purchased 100 MW of solar and 30 MW of storage capacity.

The Sonrisa solar-plus-storage project is located in California’s Fresno County. It is expected to start operations in 2022.
