June 20 (Renewables Now) - EDP Renewables North America LLC has signed an off-take contract to sell the output of the 100-MW Sonrisa Solar Park with 30-MW storage in California, its parent company EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) said Thursday.

The buyer under the new power purchase agreement (PPA) is local electricity supplier East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) for which EDPR will develop the project. The PPA will run for a period of 20 years starting December 2022.

The solar-plus-storage project is located in California’s Fresno County.

EDPR says the arrangement with EBCE boosts its PPA portfolio to 1.8 GW for US projects that will come online by 2022. The Madrid-based renewable energy company is looking to sign PPAs for close to 7 GW of global capacity in the 2019-2022 period as outlined in its strategic plan. The latest PPA has already moved the needle past 45%.
