EDP to join competition for solar power licences

(ADPnews) - Nov 12, 2010 - Portuguese energy utility EDP (ELI:EDP) will join the competition for solar power licences in the country, CEO Antonio Mexia said during the corporate media day held this week.

The group has already expressed interest in the tender for 150 MW solar capacity. The offers should be submitted until next Monday.

It will be a new step for EDP in the renewable energy business where the group acts through its subsidiary EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), Mexia said. The unit has already participated in the government tenders for wind power capacity and hydro energy capacity, he reminded.
