EDP Renovaveis to build 30-MW PV plant in USA - report
Jul 25, 2013 - EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), the green energy arm of Portuguese power utility EDP (ELI:EDP), will build a 30-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in California, USA, CEO Manso Neto told yesterday business daily Diario Economico.
The facility, whose construction will begin in 2014, will involve an investment of some EUR 50 million (USD 66.1m). The company won the licence for the project within a tender in which it took part alone.
EDP Renovaveis made its first steps in the PV business last year with the launch of the first of four solar plants with a total installed capacity of 39 MW in Romania.
The USA will be a priority in the company's growth strategy in the following two years. In the US market appeared opportunities that had not existed a year ago, Neto said. The key factor in the group's investment policy is the regulatory stability linked to the guarantee of long-term return on investments, he added.
