EDP issues EUR-600m green bond


September 11 (Renewables  Now) - Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) announced today it has issued EUR 600 million (USD 659.81m) of green bonds through its financial branch, EDP Finance BV.

The seven-year notes, made under EDP and EDP Finance BV’s Programme for the Issuance of Debt Instruments (MTN), will mature in September 2026. The debt instruments have a coupon of 0.375%, corresponding to a yield of 0.43%.

The company is applying for the notes to be admitted to trading on Euronext Dublin, the firm stated in its filling.

According to EDP, the funds raised by this initiative will be used to finance or refinance, in whole or in part, eligible wind and solar assets held by its renewable energy unit EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR), as established in EDP’s Green Bond Framework.

EDP launched its first EUR-600-million green bond in October 2018. It matures in October 2025 and has a coupon of 1.875%.
