EDF Renewables has 17 MW of solar energised in Ireland

EDF Renewables, part of French electric utility group EDF SA (EPA:EDF), has energised three solar farms with a combined capacity of 17 MW in Ireland, the power producer said on Monday.

The Curraghmartin solar farm in County Kilkenny, and the Coolroe and Blusheens parks both in County Wexford are the company's first solar plants in the Republic of Ireland. EDF Renewables took over the projects when it acquired Irish firm Wexford Solar Ltd and its 100-MW solar portfolio in 2020.

Coolroe, Blusheens and Curraghmartin were successful in the first round of the Irish government’s Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) in 2020 and qualified to supply power at a pre-agreed price.

They are among the first projects to be developed under RESS and connected to the national grid, EDF Renewables said.
