EDC gets service contacts for 7 new renewable schemes in Philippines
Oct 20, 2014 - Philippine-based Energy Development Corp (PSE:EDC) said Friday it had received service contacts from the country's Department of Energy (DOE) for one solar and six wind farms.
The seven contacts obtained by EDC enable it to develop, construct and operate the proposed renewable power plants. The company did not disclose the planned capacity for any of the new projects.
The solar scheme will be located in the province of Ilocos Norte. Two of the wind parks will be situated in Iloilo province, three facilities are planned for Sorsogon province and one for Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, the firm said in a separate statement on Friday it had secured USD 315 million (EUR 247m) in loans to support the construction of its 150-MW Burgos wind farm.
EDC is a power producer involved in the geothermal, hydropower and wind sectors. The company has more than 1,400 MW of renewable energy capacity in its portfolio, it says on its website.
