Nov 8, 2012 - Ecuador's agency of preinvestment studies INP will sign a contract with Spanish gas utility Gas Natural Fenosa (MCE:GAS) for the pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for a 15 MW wind power project, the agency said yesterday.
The project, dubbed Garcia Moreno, is located in Carchi province in northern Ecuador and is estimated to produce 43.5 MWh a year. The contract is worth nearly USD 767,600 (EUR 601,400). The studies will take 22 months, including a campaign of wind measurements of at least 12 months.
The signing is scheduled for today.
This is the second wind power project in Ecuador after the Villonaco project, which is located in Loja province.
