Ecoppia, the Israeli developer of an automated water-less solar panel cleaning technology, said Wednesday it would establish production capacity in India as a response to “skyrocketing demand” for its E4 robots.
Looking to scale up quickly, the company has joined hands with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Sanmina Corp (NASDAQ:SANM). The mass production facility will be located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu state.
“We've seen demand grow across the board in 2015 - but India remains our top market and the natural choice for us to build a state-of-the-art production facility,” CEO Eran Meller noted.
Ecoppia’s robotic solution replaces manual cleaning, which requires huge amounts of water and costly manpower resources. After being installed onto the photovoltaic (PV) panels, the robotic systems clean the surface from dirt and dust at night time, thus keeping solar energy production at peak efficiency.
