Eco Energy gets additional geothermal resources exploration licence for Peru's Puno

Dec 19, 2012 - Peruvian energy and mines ministry yesterday cleared local firm Eco Energy to explore geothermal resources in Pinaya VI zone, in the southern region Puno, after few days ago it granted a geothermal resources exploration licence for Puno's zones Pinaya IV and Pinaya V.
Under the ministry's regulation, Eco Energy should complete the first phase of exploration in 24 months, while the second stage should be closed 12 months after the completion of the first. Also, Ecо Energy is obliged to present before the start of the exploration an environmental study, which was already approved by the ministry's Directorate General of Energy Environmental Affairs (DGAAE).
The ministry underlined that it decided to give the green light to Eco Energy after it had verified its future activities comply with the requirements of Peru's Law on Geothermal Resources.
Eco Energy requested the exploration permits for the two areas in 2010. The areas are located in Santa Lucia district.
