A Horizon 2020 grant of about EUR 3 million (USD 3.3m) has been awarded to the GOTSolar project in Europe focused on Perovskite Solar Cells (PSC), Dyesol Ltd (ASX:DYE) said today.
The company’s unit Dyesol UK Ltd is part of the European consortium that got the funds. The project is focused on the scale-up of PSC. More specifically, it aims to address the technical challenges associated with sealing glass and steel hybrid substrate-based solar panels.
GOTSolar wants to adapt a laser-assisted, glass frit sealing technology for the making of long-life steel roofing products.
Dyesol’s share of the EU grant is EUR 650,000. The other participants in the project are the University of Porto and Efacec from Portugal; EPFL of Switzerland; the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw; the National Center for Scientific Research in France; and the University of Ulm in Germany.
Dyesol aims to become the first third-generation solar company worldwide to exploit the commercial opportunity of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) on steel roofing, it said.
