Dutch housing association De Gemeenschap bets on solar energy - report

Sep 12, 2013 - Dutch housing association De Gemeenschap is considering investing more than EUR 700,000 (USD 930,000) in solar power, regional daily De Gelderlander reported Wednesday.

The association's director Paul van Roosmalen plans on installing about 1,500 solar panels on the roofs of residential buildings in Nijmegen, eastern Netherlands. The produced energy will be used for the lighting of galleries, for outdoor lighting and elevators.

Van Roosmalen expects the investment to pay off within 12 years.
