Duke Energy acquires 3 MW of solar power plants in North Carolina
Nov 15, 2011 - US utility Duke Energy Corp (NYSE:DUK) today said its renewable energy arm had acquired three solar power plants of 1 MW each in the state of North Carolina from US photovoltaic (PV) system developer ESA Renewables.
The plants include Canadian Solar modules and started operation during the current year. ESA Renewables will provide operations, maintenance and monitoring of the plants.
Electric cooperative Blue Ridge Mountain EMC has sold the output of the plants to electricity company Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) under 10-year power purchase agreements (PPA). TVA will also receive the renewable energy certificates from the solar plants.
