July 12 (Renewables Now) - The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has invited consultancy firms to submit their feasibility study bids for a wind generation project to be located in Dubai’s exclave territory of Hatta.

Interested parties can apply by July 23, 2019, the government-owned utility company said Wednesday.

According to DEWA, Hatta has been chosen as the site of a future wind project due to its geographic characteristics which result in relatively higher wind speeds than other areas.

The Emirate of Dubai aims to increase the share of clean power in its mix to 75% by 2050, an ambition that will require more than 42 GW of renewable and clean energy capacity.
