Aug 14, 2013 - US diversified energy group DTE Energy (NYSE:DTE) said yesterday it had chosen 67 projects of 494 kW in total in the second round of its SolarCurrents programme that provides incentives to customer-owned solar systems.
The scheme is to add 2 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity by 2014.
The second round of the programme was launched at the end of June. In it DTE chose in a random drawing 56 residential projects with a total capacity of 373 kW and 11 small business projects for another 121 kW. The residential systems, the capacity of which ranges between 1 kW and 20 kW, will be installed in 11 counties in Southeastern Michigan, while the small business projects of 4 kW-20 kWwill be developed in seven counties.
The company received 167 applications for 1,200 kW of projects in the second SolarCurrents stage, DTE noted, adding that projects that have not been selected can participate in the third round of the scheme, which will be open from January 13, 2014 through February 12, 2014.
DTE Energy's initial SolarCurrents programme envisaged the installation of PV systems with a total capacity of 15 MW on customer rooftops or property in southeast Michigan by 2015. The 2-MW target announced early this year represents an expansion of the initial plan.
