Doral Renewables LLC, the US arm of Israel-based renewable energy company Doral Group (TLV:DORL), has purchased a 150-MW solar project in the US state of Georgia from Avangrid Inc (NYSE:AGR).
The deal concerns the Brenneman solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Georgia’s Macon County, the buyer said on Tuesday. It did not disclose the value of the purchase.
To be installed within the Southeastern Electric Reliability Council (SERC) energy market zone, the PV park will be capable of generating power for around 36,000 homes, once up and running. Close to 1,600 acres (647.5 ha) of land has been leased for the development and an interconnection agreement with utility Georgia Power is already in place.
Brenneman will be Doral’s first project outside the PJM and MISO market areas. The company’s vice president M& and finance, Ignacio Ibarguren, pointed out that the firm intends to further expand its footprint outside those two markets through organic growth and acquisitions of solar, wind and energy storage projects in ERCOT, CAISO and the Northeast.
Doral Renewables, also known as Doral LLC, currently owns more than 5 GW of projects under development in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic US.
