Dominion seals 110-MW solar PPA in Virginia

Dominion Virginia Power has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Commonwealth of Virginia for 110 MW of solar electricity, the utility said on Monday.

The company, which is a unit of energy producer Dominion (NYSE:D), will build up to 75% of the needed solar power capacity, while third parties will develop the rest. The company is yet to determine the exact locations of the plants and will work with various state agencies to do so.

All costs associated with this programme will be paid by the state, Dominion noted.

In February, the company announced plans to add at least 400 MW of solar power capacity in the state of Virginia by 2020 with an investment of USD 700 million (EUR 824m).
