DESRI to build 350 MW of solar under offtake deals with Entergy Louisiana

November 18 (Renewables Now) - US renewable energy asset owner D E Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) said today it has has signed off-take deals with Entergy Louisiana LLC for three solar projects with a combined capacity of 350 MW.

The solar arrays, to be installed under power purchase agreements (PPAs) or build transfer agreements (BTAs) with Entergy Louisiana, are scheduled to start supplying solar energy to the utility and its customers in 2024.

The projects include two adjacent schemes, the 150-MW Vacherie solar energy centre and the 150-MW SJ Louisiana project, in St James parish and the 50-MW Sunlight Road development in Washington parish.

Once they are completed, DESRI will own and operate the Vacherie and Sunlight Road projects, while Entergy Louisiana will assume ownership of SJ Solar. The initial development of this project was led by affiliates of SunChase Power and Eolian.

The three solar farms will take DESRI’s renewable energy projects with Entergy to above 400 MW, noted DESRI chief development officer Hy Martin.
