Decorah Solar dedicates 280-kW college solar project in Iowa
Oct 29, 2012 - US Decorah Solar Field LLC on Saturday officially powered up a 280-kW solar array installed at Luther College in Iowa, TV channel KWWL reported.
The college, located in the city of Decorah, is leasing the USD-1.2-million (EUR 929,000) solar system from the company and intends to buy it after seven years.
The solar facility includes 1,250 modules and has an annual output of 355,000 kWh, producing enough power to meet the needs of around 100 students living on campus at housing facility Baker Village.
The new installation is part of Luther College's efforts to meet its target of reducing its carbon emissions by 50% by 2017, 70% by 2020 and becoming carbon neutral by 2030, the college's president Richard Torgerson was quoted as saying.
