Data services provider Markley inks 40-MW solar PPA with Borrego

January 20 (Renewables Now) - US data center facilities and cloud computing services provider Markley Group will procure half of the electricity coming from an 80-MW portfolio of community solar projects in Massachusetts.

The Boston, Massachusetts-based company announced on Wednesday it has sealed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with project developer Borrego. The deal was struck under the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) programme and will see the data services provider receive electricity from 10 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.

Details about the specific projects and the term of the PPA were not disclosed. The entire capacity is located within the service territory of utility Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES).

The offtake deal aligns with Markley’s commitment to green initiatives and renewable energy projects, the company noted. The PPA signing was facilitated by Atlas Retail Energy, which is acting as Markley’s energy advisory firm.
