Dec 6, 2011 - Czech photovoltaic (PV) firm Photon Energy Systems (WAR:PHO) has completed and connected to the grid a 261-KWp rooftop photovoltaic (PV) installation in Italy's province of Lecco, Solarbuzz reported yesterday.
The solar system, the company's first in Italy, is estimated to generate 315,000 kWh of electricity a year and yield EUR 116,000 (USD 155,200) in annual revenues to Photon.
Photon Energy's wholly-owned unit Photon Engineering has designed and built the plant, which was connected to the grid ahead of schedule in November. Thus, the project obtained a feed-in premium of EUR 0.265 per kWh, some EUR 0.02 higher than the tariff due upon the plant's scheduled completion in December, in addition to electricity sales revenues of EUR 0.1034 per kWh.
The installation brings Photon Energy's total installed PV power capacity around the globe to 25 MWp. It is one of the four rooftop projects with total capacity of 2.658 MWp in the company's pipeline in Italy. The company is also planning projects in Germany, Australia and other foreign countries, under its strategy to expand geographically.
