CWP Global buys 73-MW wind project in Ukraine

International energy infrastructure developer CWP Global has acquired a 73-MW onshore wind project that is currently being developed in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.

The company said in a statement on Monday that construction work on that particular project is expected to begin in 2023. The scheme is estimated to require an investment of EUR 76 million (USD 90.2m) that would create 360 jobs.

CWP Global has developed nearly 2,000 MW of renewable energy projects, including Europe’s largest operational onshore wind farm. The company says it has an ambitious development plan for Ukraine aimed at supporting the country’s transition from fossil fuel-based energy generation and to a low-carbon future. It sees green hydrogen production potential there as well. Moreover, the company believes that Ukraine could be a continent-scale production hub for the production and export of hydrogen to western European countries.
