(SeeNews) - Nov 6, 2013 - Brazilian renewable energy developer CPFL Renovaveis (SAO:CPRE3) denied yesterday, in a note to the country's securities exchange commission CVM, media reports saying it had signed an agreement for the acquisition of sector firm Dobreve Energia SA (Desa).<br /> According to the media, CPFL would spend BRL 1 billion (USD 436.9m/EUR 323.4m) for Desa.<br /> There is no agreement on the possible purchase of Desa. CPFL continues its routine analysis of expansion opportunities, including acquisitions or partnerships with sector players, the company underlined in its note.<br /> Desa operates three small-scale hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) with combined capacity of 72 MW an it is building 205 MW wind capacity in the northeastern Rio Grande do Norte state. By 2014, Desa plans to invest BRL 2 billion in the construction of 700 MW in wind and hydro projects. It is also analysing 1.2 GW of wind projects and 1.7 GW of small-scalle hydropower plants.<br /> (BRL 1.0 = USD 0.437/EUR 0.323)
