CORRECTED - China kicks off anti-dumping, anti-subsidy probe into EU-made solar silicon

Nov 1, 2012 - China on Thursday started an investigation for dumping and subsidies into solar-grade polysilicon imports from the European Union, the country's Ministry of Commerce said on its website.

The probe was launched in response to a complaint from a number of domestic polysilicon producers, including Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon Technology Development Co, a subsidiary of GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd (HKG:3800), Daqo New Energy Corp (NYSE:DQ), LDK Solar Co (FRA:LD41) and China Silicon Corp.

The investigation is to continue until November 1, 2013 and could be extended for another six months. It will cover the year from July 1, 2011 to July 1, 2012 and will be combined with a probe into US and South Korean solar-grade polysilicon imports which was launched in July.

The move comes after the EU in September started an anti-dumping probe into solar panels and other products imported from China.
