Oct 12, 2012 - German solar equipment maker Conergy AG (ETR:CGYK) yesterday said it had completed a 544-kW solar system at the factory of Italian metal roof system and wall cladding maker Alubel in Bagnalo in Piano, northern Italy.
The roof-integrated installation uses some 2,300 Conergy PowerPlus modules and 33 of the company's IPG T converters. It is estimated to produce around 572,000 kWh per year, which is more than the factory's power consumption, according to the announcement. The system's output is being fed into the Italian grid.
While the facility benefits from subsidies under Italy's previous Conto Energia IV feed-in tariff scheme, Giuseppe Sofia, Conergy managing director in Italy, said that roof installations still had potential under the new Conto Energia V, which brought a sharp reduction in solar incentives. Italy had reached grid parity in the private as well as the commercial sector due to its climatic conditions and high electricity prices, Sofia said and expressed optimism that the company would be able to keep operating in the country even without subsidies, with commercial roofs being of particular interest.
