Oct 18, 2012 - Conergy AG (ETR:CGYK) has installed a 222-kW rooftop solar system for a fruit and vegetable cooperative in the region of Andalusia, southern Spain.
The German solar equipment maker today said that the installation located on the factory roofs of cooperative El Grupo SCA in the province of Granada had been connected to the grid. The system includes some 1,000 Conergy PowerPlus modules and two Conergy IPG central inverters. It is expected to produce about 324,000 kWh per year, enough to power over 100 households and offset 260 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
Conergy acted as the general contractor for the project with responsibility for planning, engineering and construction as well as the supply of the components.
Luis Jimenez Gutierrez, managing director of Conergy Spain, said that due to its long sunshine hours and high irradiation levels, Andalusia offered very good conditions for solar power generation and had great potential for rooftop projects, particularly on commercial buildings.
