February 24 (Renewables Now) - Vancouver-based Clir Renewables, a software developer for the wind power industry, has hired veteran executive Didier Fravega to lead the expansion of the firm’s asset performance optimisation platform across Latin America.

With more than a decade of experience in the Latin American wind industry, Fravega arrives at Clir after previously serving as technical sales manager at German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion SA (ETR:SEN), business development manager at Argentina’s Coral Energia and wind technical leader for Latin America at General Electric Co (NYSE:GE).

In a statement on Monday, Clir said that a number of project owners and investors in Latin America are putting more focus on asset performance to secure long-term financial returns in markets marked by uncertainty.

The firm’s software uses artificial intelligence (AI) to collect and analyse wind data, identify causes of under-performance and advise asset owners on the solution, Clir said.
