October 12 (Renewables Now) - US solar and storage developer Clenera LLC has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative Inc for a 150-MW photovoltaic (PV) project in the state of Michigan.

The off-take contract is tied to the Gemstone Solar project that will be executed on about 1,000 acres of land in Cass County by the end of 2023. Both the construction of the plant and its operation will be managed by Clenera, now a unit of Israeli renewables developer Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TLV:ENLT).

The process of building Gemstone Solar is expected to start in the spring of 2023 and create an estimated 350 construction jobs.

Wolverine is a Michigan-based not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative that provides members with 60% carbon-free power. The cooperative’s current renewable energy portfolio includes over 210 MW of wind and solar capacity.
