December 10 (Renewables Now) - The 103-MWp Midden-Groningen solar plant built by China’s Chint Solar in the Netherlands is now fully operational, the company announced last week.

The solar park, located in the municipality of Groningen, in the northern part of the Netherlands, consists of about 315,000 solar panels supplied by Chint Solar's sister company Astronergy. Producing power for at least 32,000 homes, this is currently the biggest solar farm in the country, according to the statement.

The solar farm is also the first one in the Netherlands to feed electricity directly into the national transmission grid, operated by TenneT, Chint Solar Europe's managing director, Oliver Schweininger, said.

Chint Solar acquired the project from Powerfield at the beginning of 2017, which started developing it in 2015. The company began construction in February and the farm was ready at the end of October.
