The Dutch unit of China’s Chint Solar has initiated panel installation at its 101-MWp Stadskanaal solar park project in the Netherlands and started building another photovoltaic (PV) plant.
The first ones of around 245,000 solar panels that will be powering the Stadskanaal park are already in place, the project developer said last week. The plant, located near the Dutch city of Stadskanaal, will operate together with the 45-MWp Buinerveen solar park, the construction of which was initiated earlier this month. Both of them are slated to begin operations in November.
The PV parks will be connected to Dutch transmission system operator Tennet’s high–voltage grid network near Meeden. Together, they will be capable of generating enough electricity to supply at least 45,000 homes per year.
Chint acquired the two solar projects from Dutch solar company Powerfield last summer. At the end of 2019, the Chinese company brought live the 103-MWp Midden-Groningen solar farm in the northern part of the Netherlands, which was also developed and initially owned by Powerfield.
