Chinese Suntech, US Calisolar to develop silicon factory in Canada
(ADPnews) - Oct 21, 2010 - Chinese solar panels manufacturer Suntech Power Holdings (FRA:S9H) and US solar cells maker Calisolar Inc have agreed to jointly set up a solar silicon producing plant in Canadian province Ontario.
Under the letter of intent, Suntech will help with the project's financing and sign a multi-year contract to purchase the solar silicon output of the new plant, the Chinese company said in a statement released on Tuesday.
The project will enhance Calisolar's existing operations in Ontario, and double the number of its employees there to 350.
