China's Envision fires up 50-MW wind farm in Argentina

Chinese turbine maker Envision Energy said that is has commissioned its 50-MW Vientos del Secano wind farm in Argentina’s Buenos Aires province.

The wind farm is equipped with 20 units of Envision EN110 2.5 turbines and is capable of generating around 217 GWh of electricity per year.

The project was funded by Envision with a guarantee from the Word Bank.

The company said it was able to complete the project alongside more than 900 workers in 18 months despite hurdles created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vientos del Secano is Envision’s second wind farm in Argentina. Last year, the turbine maker commissioned the 10-MW Garcia del Rio wind farm in the Bahia Blanca district. Envision secured off-take contracts for these and the Cerro Alto and Los Meandros projects in Argentina’s renewable energy tender RenovAr 1.
