Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee said today it has given the green light to the sale of 10 Activ Solar solar parks to a unit of China National Building Material Group Corp (HKG:3323).
The assets to be bought by CNMB International include the 43.1-MW Dunayskaya, 54.8-MW Pryozernaya and 43.4-MW Limanskaya solar photovoltaic (PV) farms, among others. All are located in the Odessa and Mykolayiv regions of the country.
Activ Solar has installed a few hundred megawatts of solar power generation capacity, mainly large-scale parks, in Ukraine and in Crimea. Local media say the company is related to Ukraine's former first deputy prime minister Andriy Klyuyev and his brother Serhiy Klyuyev.
According to figures by SolarPower Europe, formerly known as the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, Ukraine had 616 MW of solar power capacity at the end of 2013.
