(ADPnews) - Dec 3, 2010 - Solar cell firm China Sunergy (NASDAQ:CSUN) and Israel's building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) maker Pythagoras Solar have teamed up to advance the development and production of BIPV products and to market them in China.
The companies agreed to partner over the next five years, aiming to take advantage of the opportunities in the BIPV market by using the photovoltaic glass units (PVGU) of Pythagoras, they said in a statement on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, China Sunergy will collaborate with Pythagoras to speed up the popularisation of PVGU products by supplying 75 MW of highly efficient concentrator solar cells in five years.
The partners added that the agreement might also involve reselling and manufacturing Pythagoras' PVGU products by China Sunergy, as well as developing and delivering new solar concentrator cells to improve BIPV systems.
According to data from research company NanoMarkets, the BIPV market in Asia in 2009 generated USD 600 million (EUR 454m) in installation revenues. The researcher expects the global BIPV market to surpass USD 8 billion by 2015.
