China Sunergy acquires 10 MW of solar projects in UK
Nov 6, 2012 - Solar cell and module maker China Sunergy Co Ltd (NASDAQ:CSUN) today said it had acquired two solar power projects with capacity of 5 MW each in England's Cornwall region.
China Sunergy will arrange construction of the projects, which will use its solar modules, and will own and operate the plants. Construction is due to start in the coming weeks and grid connection is anticipated before April 1, 2013, to qualify for Renewables Obligation Certificate (ROC) level of 2 ROCs per MWh, China Sunergy said.
These will be China Sunergy's first solar power plants in the UK.
Chief executive Stephen Cai said China Sunergy intended to expand across Europe, including France, Germany, Romania and Spain, where it can achieve a "healthy return rate" on projects.
