Oct 8, 2014 - Power producer China Longyuan Power Group Corp Ltd (HKG:0916) has agreed to add 200 MW of fresh wind capacity in China’s Ningxia autonomous region, its parent said today.
State-owned power generation firm China Guodian Corp announced in a statement its unit had sealed a deal with the local government of Guyuan city, located in Yuanzhou district, to develop 200 MW of wind facilities there.
Meanwhile, China Longyuan has also received clearance from the Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission to carry on with the second 49.5-MW phase of a wind scheme in Zhangye city, within the Ganzhou district of Gansu province. The company aims to install 33 turbines of 1.5 MW each as part of that project, China Guodian added.
The new plants will help utilise the abundant natural resources in both regions to meet growing electricity demand. The projects are also in line with the company’s expansion strategies for China and the provinces.
China Longyuan’s total installed capacity as at June 30, 2014 stood at approximately 14 GW, 11.9 GW of which in the wind power sector.
