Chile's energy minister Susana Jimenez on Friday launched the Energy Route 2018-2022 initiative at a workshop in the region of Araucania.
The "energy route" will be developed with the help of workshops that will be held across the country during the month of April. Jimenez said the initiative will allow the government to hear the voice of different stakeholders from the public and private sectors and the civil society.
According to a statement by the ministry, some of the key challenges that should be tackled together are modifying the electricity distribution law, promoting self-generation; e-mobility and its accelerated penetration, and citizen participation in energy projects.
The "energy route" will also put an accent on competition, the use of innovations in the electricity sector, the planning for the end of coal generation, the challenges related to the mass penetration of renewables and climate change regulations, among others.
Jimenez also took part in an event to lay the foundation stone of Acciona SA's (BME:ANA) 183-MW San Gabriel wind farm in Araucania. She said that the government is working to create conditions that facilitate the massive incorporation of renewable energy.
