Chile launches four micro HPPs in Los Lagos region
(ADPnews) - Dec 16, 2010 - Chile's energy minister, Ricardo Raineri, inaugurated on Monday four micro hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in the Cochamo municipality, in the southern Los Lagos region.
The four plants, called Llanada Grande, Segundo Corral, Valle del Frio and Paso del Leon, have an installed capacity of 145 KW, 19 KW, 17 KW and 19 KW, respectively.
The energy ministry developed the feasibility and the engineering studies for all plants as part of a rural electrification project.
The 145 KW Llanada Grande plant will supply electricity to 105 customers, including 98 households, Raineri said.
