Chile Austral Capital to invest USD 16m in waste-to-energy - report
Jul 16, 2013 - Chilean investment fund manager Austral Capital has raised USD 16 million (EUR 12.2m) for waste-to-energy projects, seeking annual returns of 20%, local daily Diario Financiero reported.
Launched in January, the Waste to Energy I fund focuses on biogas plants using waste from the agriculture, sewage and fishing industry to produce thermal energy or electricity. Currently, the vehicle is investing in two plants in the Pichidegua and Pelequen areas, in O'Higgins region.
The fund includes USD 8 million in individual contributions, while the remainder represents capital from Chile's development agency Corfo.
