Chile Ameris Capital willing to further invest in renewables - report
Jun 10, 2014 - Chilean consultancy Ameris Capital, former Claro y Asociados, is interested to invest again in renewable energy in the medium term following its first acquisition some weeks ago, local daily El Mercurio said Monday.
The company's private equity fund Helios, in association with a strategic partner, has recently acquired the 50.7-MWp San Andres solar park in Atacama region, with an investment of USD 150 million (EUR 110.7m). The park was developed by US solar technology firm SunEdison Inc (NYSE:SUNE) and sells its output on the spot market.
Ameris Capital has been studying the renewable energy sector for nearly two years and saw the increasing competitiveness of solar photovoltaic technology, CEO Javier Contreras said.
He also said that Chile's energy plan, proposed by the new government, indicates that renewable energy may be included in the energy auctions for distributors.
