Chile agency to offer loans for 20-MW renewables projects - report
Chile's production development agency Corfo will launch a credit line in January to finance local renewable energy projects of up to 20 MW together with German development bank KfW.
The projects will receive up to USD 15 million (EUR 13.6m) repayable within 15 years, Corfo's coordinator for International R&D Energy Centres, Patricio Valdivia, said Monday, quoted by energy news site Revista Electricidad. The official took part in a forum on renewable energy financing with developers and banks.
In 2014, the government provided funding for the pre-investment studies on mini-hydro, solar, wind, biomass and hybrid projects of up to 50 MW, which totaled 740 MW.
Also in 2014, the government signed contracts worth EUR 115 million with German KfW to support solar energy in particular.
