Oct 16, 2014 - Chinese engineering and construction firm Changjiang & Jinggong Steel Building (Group) Co Ltd (SHA:600496) said Tuesday it plans to develop 30 MW of distributed generation (DG) solar projects at home.
The company's solar units Shanghai Green Building Solar Co Ltd and JingGong Energy Technology Group Co Ltd entered into a framework agreement in connection with the planned installations. The projects will require a total investment of up to CNY 250 million (USD 40.8m/EUR 31.8m).
Shanghai Green Building Solar specialises in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems. JingGong Energy, on the other hand, is a joint venture in which Changjiang & Jinggong Steel holds 45%.
The company explained the photovoltaic (PV) business, and more precisely DG provides competitive advantages to its main structural steel operations. Solar power generation is becoming more attractive to investors thanks to the Chinese government’s different incentive programmes implemented since 2013. Support for DG is especially strong in the country.
