October 25 (Renewables Now) - Colombian power company Celsia SA on Thursday confirmed its triumph in this week’s renewable energy auction saying it secured 15-year contracts both as a generator and as a procurer of electricity.

On the generator side, Celsia was granted power purchase agreements (PPAs) to offload 767 GWh of electricity per year from its first wind farms, Camelia and Acacia 2, both to be erected in Colombia’s La Guajira department.

By participating as a power utility, Celsia was assigned the purchase of 264 GWh per year, which the company will use to meet the demand of its regulated customers in the Valle del Cauca and Tolima departments.

The contracts enter into force on January 1, 2022.
