Celesc partners with Brazil Santa Catarina govt for clean energy programme
Brazilian utility Celesc (BVMF:CLSC3) will participate in Santa Catarina state's clean energy programme, SC+Energia, allocating BRL 30 million (USD 9.6m/ EUR 8.6) for distributed micro- or mini-generation projects.
The announcement was made on Wednesday at the launch of SC+Energia.
Celesc will also hold tenders for the purchase of electricity from the SC+Energia plants to promote commercialisation of the produced energy. In addition, the firm intends to enter into associations for the projects, with a minority stake in the ventures.
The Gas Company of Santa Catarina, SCGas, is another partner of SC+Energia. The firm is seeking to develop bioenergy from pig and poultry farm wastes, also helping to tackle an environmental problem of the state's agribusiness. At the event, SCGas signed an agreement to provide gas for the installation of two thermal plants in Trombudo Central and Tijucas.
