CEEE installs wind measurement tower in Rio Grande do Sul
Oct 17, 2011 - Brazil's state-run utility Companhia Estadual de Energia Eletrica (CEEE) completed on Friday the installation of the first wind measurement tower in the Rio Grande city of southernmost Rio Grande do Sul state.
According to CEEE, the tower will house equipment that over the next three years will measure the wind's direction and speed, besides the air's temperature, pressure and humidity.
The data collected will serve as basis for development of a future wind park in Rio Grande, with some 100 MW of installed power.
CEEE's costs with the structure's installation and maintenance are estimated at BRL 225,000 (USD 128,800/EUR 93,400).
Three more towers will be installed in other regions of Rio Grande do Sul, the company noted.
