August 1 (Renewables Now) - Swiss private asset manager Capital Dynamics said today that its Clean Energy Infrastructure (CEI) business has bought the 180-MW/231-MW DC Townsite solar project in Boulder City, Nevada.

CEI has acquired the project by taking over Skylar Townsite LLC for an undisclosed sum.

In addition to the solar component, the Townsite project also involves the construction of a 90-MW/360-MWh energy storage facility and comes with three long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) in place with two municipalities and a cooperative.

According to Benoit Allehaut, managing director at Capital Dynamics, this is the first hybrid utility-scale solar and energy storage project that serves fixed volume PPAs. It will be fully built by the end of 2021.

Townsite is part of the Gigawatt 1 solar project portfolio that is being developed by Capital Dynamics, power marketer Tenaska Power Services Co and technology infrastructure corporation Switch (NYSE:SWCH).
