Canadian Solar to help Turkish group build up to 300 MW

April 27 (Renewables Now) - Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) today announced a partnership with Turkey's Global Investment Holdings (IST:GLYHO) to develop and operate up to 300 MWp of solar power projects.

The solar company will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the projects.

"Global Investment Holdings is active in renewable energy and energy efficiency investments; currently we have a combined capacity of 75.5MW," said Atay Arpaciogullari of the Turkish conglomerate. Arpaciogullari, chief executive Global Energy, added that the agreement with Canadian Solar is part of plans to boost Global Investment Holdings' clean energy investments up to 300 MW-400 MW in the next three years.

Canadian Solar chairman and chief executive Shawn Qu said the partnership will further expand his company's presence in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

According to figures from SolarPower Europe, Turkey led an expansion in the European solar market last year as it connected at least 1.79 GW to the grid.
