Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Jun 27-Jul 1)
Jul 01, 2022 17:05 CESTMarch 15 (Renewables Now) - Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) has initiated mass production and also shipment of a new 54-cell format solar module with 182-mm cell for residential, commercial and industrial rooftop installations.
The CS6R-MS module, part of the HiKu6 182-cell family, has a maximum power output of 420 W and a module efficiency of up to 21.5%. Its small size makes it especially suitable for rooftop solar applications, the company said.
According to Canadian Solar, the CS6R-MS offers 5 W to 10 W higher power and about 0.5% higher module efficiency than the similar format PERC modules on the market. It also comes with an enhanced 25-year product warranty on materials and workmanship for residential rooftop applications.
"I am excited to announce that we have started mass production and delivered the first batch of the 54-cell modules of up to 420 W based on 182 mm PERC cells. Moreover, the module with N-type HJT cells will be delivered in April,” said Shawn Qu, chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar. According to him, the new products will further enhance the energy yield and lower the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) of residential, commercial and industrial rooftop solar arrays.
