August 30 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has approved without restrictions the acquisition by Paris-based independent power producer Total Eren SA of two wind projects held by the Brazilian unit of France's Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA).

Under the terms of the sale contract, Total Eren is buying EOL Maral I SPE SA and EOL Maral II SPE SA, which hold the Filgueira I and II wind projects, respectively. These projects have yet to break ground and are to be based in Areia Branca municipality, Rio Grande do Norte state.

The planned transaction allows the expansion and diversification of Total Eren's business in the Brazilian electricity sector. According to CADE, the buyer currently has five photovoltaic (PV) plants and two wind farms. Two of the assets have not yet entered the construction phase.
