Bunge launches sugar, bioenergy mill in Tocantins

Jul 21, 2011 - Bunge Alimentos, the local unit of US oilseed processing firm Bunge Ltd (NYSE:BG) is opening today a sugar and bioenergy mill in the Pedro Afonso city, northern Tocantins state.

The greenfield project has received investments of BRL 600 million (USD 383.5m/EUR 269.8m) and is the eight sugar and bioenergy unit of Bunge, which already has sector operations in Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo states.

Japanese trading house Itochu Corp. (TYO:8001) holds 20% in the venture.
